1947 SECURITY COUNCIL
The 1947 Security Council is this year’s edition of CACMUN’s Historical Security Council, a committee that changes theme annually to reflect pivotal moments in global history. For CACMUN 47, delegates will be transported to 1947, the year the Doomsday Clock was first introduced, and a time defined by escalating Cold War tensions, nuclear uncertainty, and the restructuring of global power. As one of the UN’s most critical bodies, the Security Council in this era faced urgent questions of peace and security in a world still reeling from World War II.
PRESIDENT BIO
Hi, I’m Habiba Mekawy and I am the president of the Historical Security Council 1947 for CACMUN 47. This is my fourth year participating in MUN and I developed a love for debate and discussion on social issues over the course of my experience. Being a chair has opened my eyes to incredible capabilities of the delegates in my committee and in those around me. Being that this is my last ever CACMUN, I wish to make it my very best!
ASSISTANT PRESIDENT BIO
Hi everyone, my name is Yassin Moussa. I’m a senior at AIS West and the Assistant President of the 1947 Security Council. I’ve been part of MUN for five years now, and it’s genuinely one of my favorite experiences. I enjoy the mix of debate, international affairs, and the unpredictability of committee discussions. I’m looking forward to a great conference with all of you.
ASSISTANT PRESIDENT BIO
Hi, I’m Abdelrahman Elnaggar, a junior year student at CAC, and I am an Assistant President of 1947 SC for this year’s CACMUN. For years, I’ve had a strong interest in diplomatic debate and current events, and MUN has been a great avenue to channel that interest. This is my third year in MUN, and I hope to make it my best.
