Letter from the Secretary General
As we prepare for CACMUN 47, I am filled with both responsibility and pride. This year’s theme, “89 Seconds to Midnight,” is a reflection of the moment we live in. Our world faces urgent and overlapping threats, and with each passing second, the cost of inaction becomes harder to ignore. In 2025, it is no longer enough to observe from the sidelines. CACMUN is a space where students are expected to engage, to question, and to lead.
Hosted by Cairo American College, CACMUN is one of the longest-running Model United Nations conferences in the region. Our school has welcomed delegates from across Egypt and the world for nearly five decades, offering not only high-level debate but a spirit of respect, professionalism, and global understanding. Cairo itself, a city shaped by history, culture, and resilience, offers the perfect backdrop for a conference rooted in diplomacy and dialogue.
CACMUN is not just a simulation. It is a space where students challenge each other to think critically, collaborate meaningfully, and test the strength of their ideas. Every delegate who enters a committee room is asked to take on responsibility. You are not just representing a country, but a way of thinking. A solution. A voice in a global conversation.
This year’s Secretariat, though smaller than past years, has shown an extraordinary level of collaboration, purpose, and commitment to every detail of this conference.
To DSG Nadine El Banna, your presence has been constant throughout my MUN experience. From our earliest days of chairing to serving together on the Secretariat, your support and friendship have grounded me. Your attention to detail and steady commitment to this conference have shaped it more than you know.
To DSG Mourad Zaki, your leadership is measured and mature. You are thoughtful in the way you work and intentional in the way you support others. Your understanding of what this conference needs, both logistically and interpersonally, has helped hold the team together in every stage of planning.
To DSG Omar Galal, your determination and intensity have left a clear mark. You raise the standard for everyone around you and push this conference forward with every task you take on. You care about the quality of what we deliver, and that has made all the difference.
To DSG Marwan El Nadi, your commitment to this conference is evident in everything you do. You are organized, focused, and deeply invested in the future of CACMUN. I trust entirely in your ability to lead it forward. With your leadership, I am confident that what comes next will be even stronger.
My own journey began at CACMUN 44 as a first-time ICJ judge who barely spoke. That experience stayed with me. It reminded me that confidence takes time, leadership takes effort, and growth is constant. CACMUN gave me the space to find my voice. I hope this year’s conference gives the same to you.

To every delegate, chair, advisor, and guest: thank you for being part of CACMUN 47. May this experience leave you more prepared to lead, more committed to dialogue, and more confident in the role you can play in shaping the world around you.
Sincerely,

Layla El-Khazindar
