INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE (ICJ)
The International Court of Justice is the UN's primary organ pertaining to legal disputes between member states. Through discourse between advocates and judges, the ICJ discusses pressing international law incidents of our time.
PRESIDENT BIO
Hey, I’m Karim El Shahawy, your President for CACMUN 47’s International Court of Justice. There’s nothing more exciting to me than seeing a case unfold with everyone’s hard work before the conference showing, and I trust that you’ll all impress me, as well as Adam and Prakhar. As a senior, this is unfortunately my last year of high school MUN, so let’s make my last CACMUN a fun one. Can’t wait to share my fifth ICJ chairing experience and 13th conference overall with you!
ASSISTANT PRESIDENT BIO
I’m Adam Assaad and I’m honored to be your CACMUN 47 International Court of Justice Vice President. This is my second year participating in Model United Nations and my second year as part of the ICJ committee. Over the past two years, MUN has allowed me to explore global issues, sharpen my communication and critical thinking skills, and collaborate with people who share a passion for debate. Being part of the ICJ has helped me develop a deeper appreciation for discussion, and perspective-taking. I’m incredibly excited to be chairing this year along side Karim and Prakhar and can’t wait to see all of you bring your ideas, energy, and insight to the committee!
ASSISTANT PRESIDENT BIO
I’m Prakhar Shrimali, and I’m honored to serve as the Assistant President of the International Court of Justice at CACMUN 47. This marks my third MUN conference, and I’m especially excited to be working alongside Adam and Karim to guide what I believe is the most dynamic and entertaining committee of them all. Having exclusively participated in the ICJ throughout my MUN journey, I’ve come to appreciate its unique blend of legal reasoning, diplomacy, and storytelling—and I can’t wait to see what this year’s delegates bring to the bench.
